love me some bathroom...

Here we are a week away from school starting and we are still remodeling!  Yes, it's going to be worth it...but just when I think we are in the home stretch, there is something else, or someone can't make it, or it's slower than anticipated...

BUT with that being said the kid's bathroom is complete (except for a door handle and a couple touch ups)!

We put in new tile floor, wainscoting, countertop, toilet, accessories, faucet/sink, lighting, painted the cabinets white, & framed the mirror!  I think the only thing that stayed was the tub!

I had fun decorating it for sure!

 My only before!  Lame!
 Swoon!

 Knobs...in love...

There ya have it...let's hope after this weekend, I'm posting kid bedrooms BEFORE back to school photos!  ; )

whistler 2013

We had an amazing time in Whistler!  I had never been before and Brian had been last year on Labor Day weekend.  We have yet to experience it in the winter, but I believe we will this year!

We spent a day at one of the lakes and rented a canoe.  The canoe was an adventure...only because we had our dear Gizmo with us...and he decided to jump in the lake from the canoe.  Yes, we still have him.  He's a pretty good little swimmer!  After that issue, we explored all the houses on the lake and had a great time!

We rode bikes one day along their Village Trail...Brindley still gets tired pretty easily as well as the dog (yes, the dog went biking in his bike basket), so we didn't last as long as we thought.  We explored Blackcomb and the kid areas.

We ate at many fun places and our most favorite had to be the ice cream shop, Cows.  Delicious and lots of various, unique choices!  We also did some shopping which is quite convenient in the Village!

All in all it was a great trip and we can't wait to go back!

Our last night exploring!  Super fun concerts every night!

 Colden racing!
She was so brave to do this!  She did flip after flip after flip...
Riding the luge!  That was fun...maybe a little scary!
 Olympic Rings!
Happy kids!

a little more progress and a powder room reveal!

We had some good progress this week in the Atkins' household!

The floors were installed and finished in Brindley and Colden's room!  I am giddy over my floors!  They just make a world of difference everywhere!  And the kid's bathroom has new floor, countertops, & fantastic wainscoting!  It just needs paint...lots of paint.  I will wait to take a picture of it until it's done!

Still lots to do, but I can taste how close we are!  By the end of next week, our downstairs should be 100% done and the kid's bathroom should be painted!

A little look as to how my kids are bunking up:
We are using the 4th bedroom as a storage and shared sleeping space!

Fun, huh?  Definitely my worst nightmare!

 Colden's after!

Our downstairs bathroom is complete!  And here it is:

Before

After: new sink, mirror, lights, fixtures, door, toilet, floors, crown molding, basket weave wainscoting & paint!

This basket weave wainscoting was fun to watch!  Dave (our contractor)  does an exceptional job of perfecting wood work!  He came up with this on his own as he also has done for most of the wood work in the house!  And frankly, these pictures don't do this room justice!

remodel update

It's been awhile since I've mentioned the remodel!  What a process!

We are very happy with everything that has been done, but sort of thought we'd be done by now!  Downstairs is about 98% done.  We are waiting on a backordered island slab of countertop (right now we have a temporary one), subway tile in the kitchen, and some paint work on the island.  Other than that, the downstairs is pretty complete!

On to upstairs.  Really just beginning.  It should be much easier than downstairs, however.  The kids bathroom still needs painted cabinets, floor and toilet!  We have ordered the rest of the hardwood for the bedrooms as well. Once that is in and installed, they can begin the baseboards, molding, and finish painting.  We are doing a few unique touches to each bedroom that we are excited about as well!

The only thing that won't get done for awhile is the master bath.  A little bummed, but we are in need of a break.  It will be next winter when we tackle that.

It's close...I can see it...; )

We just got back from another great trip to the Oregon Coast!  We go every year with our good friends from college!  The families have a blast together!  Another wonderful year is in the books...such great memories we are making!

My lack of pictures this trip is embarrassing!

 The view from the house!
 The kids...Gizmo loved the beach!
 Family shot!
They had an awesome, cheap liquor store...so we stocked up!  We are so getting this Coug cup!
Ang and I...wish I saw her more often!

our little gymnast...

Brindley had her end of the year gymnastic show today!  We got to see her perform on all 6 events, plus a little tumbling routine!  She thrives at gymnastics, it was so fun to see her confidence shine today!

flag football!!!

Colden decided to try flag football this year! Actually he begged to try flag football!  He has shown major interest in just watching football (mostly Cougs) and really wanted to try it...I will only let him do flag!  ; )

He has had a blast this spring!  We are coming to an end.  The Cougs have had a winning season of 3-2...and came in 3rd.

Unfortunately they lost today, so play offs are over...but we do get to play once more for the official 3rd place.

So proud of our boy, who has grown to love this sport, gives his all and has the best sportsmanship!

 Getting ready for a play!
 Thumbs up!

 He's down!
 Why not sun bathe?

 I actually got a wave!
The girls watching their big bros!
 Getting ready for the play!
A little celebration for the getting the flag!
BFF's again!
