Our floors were stained while we were gone!  They look fab!  We get to enjoy them a little longer before they completely cover all of them with paper (to protect when the start kitchen and also to avoid sunlight streaks with just some paper)!

The nook bench is almost done and the wainscoting is also almost finished in the dining room!

It's all coming together so nicely!

Next week, they start the kitchen!  YIKES!

The hardwoods in and stained (this is upstairs in the hall)!
 Family room hardwoods!
The bench almost finished in the nook (needs drawer cover and handle, ledge on top and stain on the seat)!

spring break-palm springs

We enjoyed a fairly quick, but amazingly relaxing trip to Palm Springs!  It was a much needed vacation for all.  Remodeling a house isn't for the birds and it has taken its toll on all of us!

We pretty much laid by the pool all day and explored at night!  My only complaint was stores closed early, so we were limited in activities at night time!

We went to the Living Desert one windy day!  It was a fun zoo that had many desert animals!

 Train city at the zoo!

 We wore them out!

Super fun coffee stop in Palm Springs!

1st Grade Concert

Colden had his first grade concert right before Spring Break!  Not great pics...but caught a few!

hoppy easter and crazy times!

We had a laid back Easter this year!  Enjoyed our own egg hunt, church and dinner with my Mom and family!  The weather was phenomenal, so we enjoyed being outside as much as we could!

We are also doing a major remodel to our sweet, little house!  After much debate (probably a good year or two) over whether to go bigger or upgrade our current home, we decided to upgrade our home!

We adore our neighborhood and school, so staying in our community was a no-brainer.  The motto around here, is go big or go home, but we just decided to stay put!  We don't particularly care about size of house or yard, what we care about is finish and making it ours.  A dream of mine would have been to move to Seattle...maybe Queen Anne or Madison Park...buy at 1900's home and remodel, but we figured if we could do that, there would be no reason we couldn't stay in our current home and remodel it...add character to our builder grade home...make it ours.

So here we are...remodeling...we are about 5 weeks into it and have probably at least 3 months to go.  Structurally, not much is changing, it's more cosmetic...new bathrooms, floors, refacing the kitchen, ALL woodwork, and adding some unique touches!

Here are some pics to show some of my favs and how we are living!  More to come for sure!

We added beadboard ceiling to our kitchen (the kitchen cabinets will become white)!
This use to be all wall...no banisters at all...it's one of my favorite parts!
Our built in bench that will have a beadboard/white finish...and it has a built in drawer!
This is the powder room downstairs...yes, we have to go upstairs to use the bathroom...
Our flooring was delivered on Friday! This is part of it...it's wide planked alder wood, that will be installed in the entire house (NO carpet).  It will have a nice stain to it to darken it up but not too much!

Stay tuned...
